Participants take a test of basic forensic science theory to qualify as semifinalists. Semifinalists demonstrate expertise of forensic science concepts through the application of techniques within a limited time frame. Students will need to be familiar with and able to demonstrate all three (3) skills. During the semifinalist portion, one (1) skill will be selected for the students to demonstrate to the judges.

Entries are limited to three (3) teams of two (2) per chapter.

Team members will take an online exam over basic forensic science theory from March 1 - 23, 2024 to determine the semifinalists for the on-site demonstration. Students will take the test individually and scores will be averaged for a team score. Testing information has been sent directly to your school testing liaison if you set one up in previous years. The forensic science concept to be demonstrated is fingerprint and impression analysis.
